Blades, bits & abrasives

Blades, bits & abrasives

Tooth counts, masonry bits, hole saws and grits — matched to the material.

Blades, bits & abrasives

A cheap blade on a good saw cuts worse than a good blade on a cheap saw. Match the consumable to the material and the tool does the rest.

Twist drill bits (HSS)

General wood, plastic and thin metal. Black oxide or titanium coating lasts longer in steel.

Carbide masonry bits

Block, stucco, brick and concrete — always with the hammer setting on.

Spade & auger bits

Fast large holes in wood for plumbing and wiring runs. Use a 1/2" chuck and go slow.

Hole saws

Recessed lights, door hardware and pipe pass-throughs. Match the arbor and pilot bit.

Framing blades (24T)

Fast rough cuts in 2x lumber and plywood. Rough edges are fine here.

Finish blades (60–80T)

Trim, moulding and plywood you'll see. More teeth, smoother cut, slower feed.

Demolition recip blades

Nail-embedded wood, pipe and root cutting. Bi-metal survives what wood blades won't.

Sanding discs & belts

80 grit to shape, 120 to smooth, 220 before finish. Skipping grits shows in the paint.

If a blade or bit needs force, it's dull or it's the wrong one. Pushing harder is how bits snap, blades bind and saws kick back.
