How long do custom window treatments and wallpaper take?
From the first showroom visit to installation day — realistic timing for shades, shutters, drapery, and wallcovering.
A typical timeline
Most projects follow the same rhythm:
- Showroom visit or in-home consultation — selections narrowed
- Measure appointment — usually within a week
- Order placed once selections and measurements are confirmed
- Fabrication at the mill — the longest stretch, and it varies by product
- Installation scheduled as soon as everything for a room arrives
What runs long
Hardwood shutters, custom drapery with specialty fabric, imported wallcovering, and anything motorized and hardwired take the most time. Stock roller shades and in-stock papers are the fastest.
Planning around a deadline
If you have a hard date — a closing, a season arrival, a rental turn — tell us at the first conversation. We will steer selections toward what can realistically land in time, and we will say so plainly if a fabric cannot make it.

Follow-up questions
- Do you install everything at once?
- We schedule installation room by room or all at once, whichever you prefer. Whole-house installs usually wait for the full order so we're in your home a single time.
- How far ahead should I start for season?
- For a house you want finished before season, start selections in late summer. Fabrication time, not selection time, is what pushes projects past a deadline.
