Same bones, different scale
Spirit and Genesis share Weber's core build: porcelain-enameled cast-iron grates, Flavorizer bars, a grease management system and the same warranty philosophy. The difference is scale and finish, not quality.
Spirit is where most families start. Genesis is the step up: more grate, a taller lid, heavier hardware and finishes that hold up better to coastal air.
Choose Spirit if
Spirit fits the majority of Delray Beach patios and townhome lanais.
- You cook for two to six people most nights.
- Patio or balcony space is tight and cart width matters.
- You want the best price per burner without giving up Weber build quality.
- You rarely roast a whole turkey or a rack of ribs standing up.
Choose Genesis if
Genesis earns its price when you cook big or cook often.
- You regularly cook for six or more, or entertain on weekends.
- You want the taller lid for roasting a bird or standing rib racks.
- You want a sear zone and a side burner for sauces and sides.
- You live near the Intracoastal or the ocean and want the heavier stainless finish.
What we would tell you at the counter
If the two grills you are comparing are within about $200 of each other, buy the larger grate. Nobody comes back wishing they had bought less cooking space. If the gap is bigger than that, put the difference into a cover, a good thermometer and a full spare tank.
Both lines are on the floor in Delray Beach so you can open the lid, measure the cart and see the finish in person before you decide.
Frequently asked
- Is Genesis worth the extra money?
- If you cook for six or more, roast with the lid down, or want a side burner and sear zone, yes. For weeknight cooking for a family of four, a Spirit does the same job with the same grate material.
- Which holds up better in salt air?
- Genesis, thanks to its heavier stainless and coated hardware. Either grill lasts far longer with a cover and a rinse after a salt-spray event.
- Can I see both in store?
- Yes — Spirit and Genesis models are on the sales floor at Hessler Ace Hardware in Delray Beach, and we assemble grills bought in store.
